Quite right, but it is also important to speak comprehensible English! Some of the BBC’s correspondents, even in the UK, are hard to understand. I am a simultaneous interpreter (as well as a journalist) and I have met simultaneous interpreters, particularly those with mother-tongue Spanish and Italian, who refuse to rid themselves of their foreign accent in English, for some obscure reason. If I spoke French and my other language as badly, I would never get any work!
